Voting Question: can you help me for sims 2?

I have Sims 2 Double Deluxe, and it's really fun. Except, I don't the hair and clothes styles they have for the sims. Are there any cheats that can receive you more clothes and hairstyles. I don't want to have to download anything, or buy anything. Also, how can you receive a whole family to go to other people's home. I made two families, both with toddlers, and I want the toddlers to be friends. But I can't receive the mom, dad, and the toddler to the other home. How do I do it? Thanks!

Resolved Question: Why are there some people in this world who completely exceed the term "selfish" (a little long but plz read)?

I have this cousin. Now we've had a adore hate relationship for most of our lives. She's a little less than a year older than me and when we were really little, from toddler age to about 8, I let her boss me around ... every the time. I let her bully me into giving her my favorite toys, always letting her play the princess, always doing what she wanted to do and never speaking up. When I was about 10 I finally started to stick up for myself because I was sleepy of it, and that's when we started to battle. Through the years she's continuously gotten worse and worse. She's developed into a full time bitch and that's saying it very tenderly. I'm now nearly 17 and she will be 18 in September. The past 2 or 3 years have been the worst. The people she's friends with are absolute SCUM. every she does with her life is smoke weed, party, receive drunk, and fu** every single guy she can receive her paws on, and this is no exaggeration. She gets high everyday before, during and after school. She's been pregnant twice and aborted the child. every in every she's just screwed up. But I know she's had some issues in the past. Her dad (my uncle) used to beat her when she was younger, she's been beaten up by kids at her school (she lives in a terrible area in ny) and for whatever reason throughout every the times shes hurt me ive tried to be there for her cuz i somehow manage to always have compassion on her. She has turned friends against me even though she lives in a different state 3 hours away, she has ditched me and abandoned me and insulted me because of some of her a__ hole boyfriends, she has had the audacity to tell the whole world that other people are her best friends and she always makes it a point to brag to me abvout how these people are so amazing how she has so much in common with them, never fights with them, and how they are the greatest ppl shes ever known and how they are always there for her. But that could NOT be farther from the truth. These girls have left her drunk and alone at hotel rooms and parties with random guys shes never met, she's been raped and stolen from and everything. And after the span of anywhere from 3 months to a year, every single one of these "best friends" abandon her and do something so awful that they become her new arch foe. And you know who gets referred to as the best pal? Me. There have been times when she has called me in the middle of the night crying and I've gotten up and helped her through it. I've pretended to be people from her school in order to receive her back with ex boyfriends. I've acted like I didn't notice when she's stolen my jewelry and clothes and other things. In a way I still let her push me around. But this time it's not because I'm afraid of her, it's because for some reason I'm hoping that she'll realize who has been loyal to her every along. Yet she doesn't. I'm only good enough to use when there's no one else, and then she just dumps me in the gutter when someone more "fun" comes along. Tonight I was talking to her because on her facebook she posted how no one gave a damn about whether she lived or died. It was a huge rant about how her life is so terrible and no one treats her right and always ditches her for someone else. Sound familiar? I tried talking to her about how I was offended by it and every she said was nows not a good time to talk about it cuz im really mad ok? and i said it's never a good time is it? well guess what, even when it's not a good time for me I always let u talk to me and confide in me and she came back with "whatever I'm not gonna make more problems for myself." My last words to her were it's always about "you" so go take care of "yourself" like you always do hon...that's what you're good at. I can look where this is going, I'm probably going to receive into another 6 month battle with her until my whole family makes me feel guilty for not trying so that there can be "peace" between everyone and it's not "strained" and there can be family gatherings or until she comes crying to me with another problem. But my real question is why? Why are some people like this? Anyone know?

Resolved Question: Am I Too Young For This Baby?

I'm so afraid now that I'm pregnant, I'm going to receive bad looks. Would you consider me too young? I have a job at a private preschool (I make $1800 a month, and have great health insurance w/ 8 week paid pregnancy leave). I adore kids, and have had plenty of experience working in the baby room (babies 6 weeks to 12 months), I understand kids's medical problems that arrive up from working in a preschool (ex. ear infections, fevers, terrible colds, fever seizures). Ps., I adore working with my toddlers & teaching them! The dad and I aren't in adore, however, we care for each other a lot & we're monogomous. Although I wish he stays around, you never know & I'm planning on raising this baby alone. Another thing, I haven't partied (drank, did drugs, stayed out til 2) since I was 17 (I just got over it). My co-workers tell me how I have fun, old soul. My mom told me that she truly believes I'm going to be an amazing mom (she just wished I was older). I'm just wondering what you think, and I want to be prepared for possible dirty looks. I'm going to be 20, and my preschool offers free daycare for infants, so I'll always be around & can check up on him/her. Thanks for every of your nice comments :)

Resolved Question: Parents of toddlers, am I being naive for hoping this?

My son's been in the full force of terrible 2s for what seems like forever, long before he actually turned 2! Tantrums that last every day some days, even a good day entails well over 50% of the time being spent in a tantrum, hitting, biting, scratching, self hurt, etc. So yesterday, he woke up and had a morning tantrum - not unusual - lasted about 20 minutes (tiny fry for him). Then, we got ready ate breakfast etc. then he played happily ith his playdough for a long time, watched a bit of tv, we read some books, the usual day at home kinda stuff. We had a few 1-or-less minute 'tantrums' here and there and the odd bit of whining but he was otherwise fine. We went out at 3pm and I took him for some food in a place where he historically always has a tantrum and won't sit in his seat, but he was an absolute ANGEL. Not just this but he ate every his food (except the peas but we'll ignore that - far more fun to cover them in pepper!) and it was a lot of food for a kids dish, and that's totally unheard of for him, he's been a fussy and selective eater for about a year. He was every glad and laughing and the other customers were cooing over him. Then he had a short nap and when he woke up back at home he had 10 minutes of whinginess but then reverted back to angel boy. He was LOVELY every day and I didn't want to put him to bed, the only reason I did was because I was sleepy myself and needed a nap! I thought we'd have the usual struggle before bedtime, especially considering how much fun he was having, but when I said "Shall we go to bed?" he ran out the room and came back two minutes later with a nappy, baby wipes, his pyjamas and a toothbrush - put them down and lay down on his back ready for me to receive him changed! TOTALLY unheard of! Okay so new day, waiting for him to wake up... am I being naive by thinking/hoping/praying that this is a sign of things to arrive and maybe he could have just snapped out of the terrible 2s overnight?! Has anyone ever known that happen? Or shall I prepare for him back to his usual self again? :(

Resolved Question: Doesn't it irritate you when your kids do this..?

I hate to sound like Debbie the Downer, but the weather is perfect today and I was so excited about taking my toddler out shopping and to the park and lunch...well, what do you know, he wakes up in a bad mood for some unknown reason and has been having tantrums every day. I'm so bummed, I wanted us to have fun today! PS There's nothing wrong with him..he's had a nap, lunch, he's not sick...he's just grumpy.

Voting Question: What are other parents getting their toddlers for Easter?

What are other mom's and dad's getting their toddler's for Easter? I know Easter is still a while away, but i'm nice of at a loss as to what I am going to receive my 15 month old daughter. She will be 17 months at Easter time and I know that I am going to do an Easter basket filled with her favorite things, but its tradition (in our family) to receive one big toy for Easter. I really want to receive her something fun that can be played with outside. My parents (her grandparents) are getting her a sand box for Easter, which is what I originally wanted to receive her, but they asked if it were ok, so I agreed that it was fine. I was looking at those water activity tables, but i'm just not sure what to receive her. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Note: She has plenty of ride on toys and battery powered toys, so I would really like to stay away from those seeing how she already has a dozen. lol..thanks Zorro. I am a bit of a planner, but I just hate waiting til' the last minute to store for any holiday...habbit I guess. My husband is the same way as you are. He won't know what we got her until the night before, lol.

Resolved Question: What is there to do in or around Anaheim that is indoors for toddlers? We are expecting rain one day.?

We are going to Anaheim for 2 days with 4 adults and 2 toddler boys. We will go to Disney on the sunny day, but what is there to do on the rainy day? I know some people like Disney in the rain because it's less crowded, but not us. We won't have a car either. Is there anything nearby that is a fun indoor activity for tiny kids (and adults too)?

Open Question: Am I really ready for another?

We recently decided to have a second child, my son is 2 1/2 years old. The problem is in the back of my mind I am worrying... am I really ready for another child(?), however for some unknown reason even though I can think of quite a few reasons NOT to have one I cannot make myself change my mind. I WANT another baby so bad. The reason I can think of NOT to have one include the fact that I really like being able to snooze through the night, my son has slept throught the night since 9 months but what if my next is not that easy? I am working full time and will probably always work full time - I am a headstart teacher- my son will be enrolled in headstart this coming year, and the new baby would be able to enroll in the early headstart just adjacent to my building however. I worry will I be too sleepy for another baby? My son is also VERY high maintenance, very very hyper, and literaly NEVER stops going...lol He is a ball of fun, but can I handle a high maintenance toddler AND a new baby? I cannot quit worrying about these things, however I also cannot quit wanting another baby. We have been ttc for about 3 months now, so it could happen at any time, I know this is not the time to be asking these questions lol Just want opinions on whether or not I am just crazy! hahaha

...(ie- cars, building, blocks, movies, playdoh, coloring, helping mom, playing with toys,letters,numbers...and so on) Its icy outside now, i know, but both indoor and outdoor activities are fine. Other than random back yard playing, bubbles,dogs,swingset,sand,etc....i also take him to the park and to the local aquarium for outside the home fun. What are some fun, inexpensive things that you do with your 2 year olds other than the same old tune and dance. Just unique or creative activities you share with your toddlers. Open Question: How do I deal with tantrums in a child who is only 13 months old? I feel like I'm doing everything wrong!?

My son just turned 1 in Jan, and has been having tantrums: if I take something away or try to change his diaper when he is engaged in play, he will yell(mouth open, not crying) and arch his back. Sometimes he hits or tries to bite as well. Sometimes he will act out this way while playing alone if something frustrates him. Haha...i've been dealing with it the way books say, calm voice, minimal reaction, and distraction. Although sometimes that doesn't work, it just makes him more upset. When it continues I sometimes put him in his play yard to chill out but I don't want to turn his play yard into a time out either. I don't know if this is normal for kids this young, but I'd like answers from parents of very young toddlers, as most of the info I have read seems to apply to 2 and 3 yr olds more than newly 1 yr olds. I should add that this is new and otherwise he is an extremely easy going bubbly baby, it's like he just discovered that getting pissed off is fun or something. Isn't it a little early for this behavior? How do I help him deal with anger and frustration in a healthy way, and how do you handle a tantrum for a baby vs an older toddler?

Resolved Question: Toddlers and being home sick?

My husband, 16 month old daughter, and I are going on a 3 day trip in about a week and a half. We have only been away from home overnight with her a total of maybe 5 times (if that) to visit his parents who live 2 hours away. My daughter gets extremely home sick even during day trips, or at least she has in the past, if we visit someones home. If we are at the mall every day shopping, an event (like a festival/fair) she is fine. We are going to be gone three days, so my question is, how do I make the transition of being away from home a little easier for her while were gone? Were going to a big Zoo one of the days while we are there, so that day I know she will have fun. Any tips/advice are greatly appreciated. I plan on taking her possess pillow (she sleeps with it every night), but any more tips would be helpful, especially if you have been through this.

Voting Question: Sometimes my cat will pee on me a small amount when I'm petting him or snuggling.?

We have two male cats from the same litter who were both neutered around 5 months (we're not 100% sure when they were born). The marmalade cat prefers me and the white cat prefers my husband even though both of them like both of us and like being petted by anyone with a free hand. Recently, when the white cat receives attention (snuggles/petting/tummy rubbing) from me he'll pee a little. Not much and he behaves as though he's completely unaware of what has happened. It's only happened a couple of times but never to my husband. Also, I'm a bit more high strung than my husband and the cats seem to mimic our personalities with who they gravitate to (marmalade is noisy and always making a mess and the white one is calm, relaxed, and hungry). My question is: why the is he peeing on me? is he just glad? is it like a toddler, he's having too much fun to walk away and use the litter box? is this normal like kneading and drooling? is it possible that i'm stressing him out by being an excitable person and should try to tone it down?

Voting Question: I have some questions about my daughter's upcoming 4th Birthday party...?

I am having my daughter's 4th Birthday Tinkerbell/ Peter Pan Birthday party at a place called Toddle Town. It is basically an indoor playground that is specifically for toddlers. My daughter has cerebral palsy and cannot walk. Everything I find online lists every these fun games and crafts to do. Is it okay if I don't do structured games and crafts and just let the kids run wild and play? I did plan on giving the boys pirate hats, swords and eye patches and giving the girls wands, wings, and pixie dust to play into the Tinkerbell/ Peter Pan theme. There is going to be at least 20 kids (every her friends from preschool) and I suspect most of the parents will stay, do I need to prepare anything to keep them entertained? For a 2 1/2 hr party, do I need to provide snacks in addition to the pizza and cake? If so, what do you suggest for snacks? I really appreciate your advice. This is the first birthday party that will be friends and not family.

Open Question: What else should I teach my Toddler?

My little baby has turned two. I involve her in whatever educational stuff I can, like shapes and sizes, opposites, vocabulary, sorting buttons/cards/pictures etc. And she loves to color and scribble as well. She can count till 5 and sometimes till 8, and can sing 'Twinkle Twinkle'. She is so quick in learning and picking up stuff I tutor her that I'm running out of ideas to keep her busy during the day. Please suggest some activities that are both fun as well as educational. Marcman M - I'm NOT faking. I'm really interested in teaching my toddler whatever she can learn coz she's a brilliant child. And I'm NOT dumb to be seeking advice from every the good parents out there as to what they do with their toddlers. Dena - Thanks for sharing. I haven't concentrated on the colors thing much as she's been bz learning numbers and nursery rhymes. Btw, there's something new I've started with my two yr old, I receive her to summarize the day's events (like what she ate, or did whole day) to sharpen her memory and it works as a nice new activity she looks forward to before bed. You can try that too. Elyse's Mama - Thanks, I'll try playdoh too. I'm sure she'll adore it.

Resolved Question: Am I an awful parent for letting my toddler go to bed without dinner?

He won't eat his vegetables. He just won't do it. We're told over and over and over again how important vegetables are. I make it fun, we sing, we dance, we make up stories, I offer them on a fork, on a spoon, with crackers, raisins, bread, even jelly, and he won't eat them. He'll eat other things, but is it terrible to say they can't have anything until they have their vegetables? What if he never eats them and goes to bed without dinner!! AHH!! Resolved Question: 1st birthday loot bag question?

My son is turning one in a few weeks (eek) and he loves Kai Lan (never seen the show but has a doll and loves her!) and he is half chinese (my hubby is chinese...) Anywho, we decided to do a chinese/Kai Lan themed party. So I have a pal making a great cake, and he'll have a smash cake. Red and Gold decorations (as you can't find Kai Lan ones here in Canada). So I'm good with the party part of it, but then we receive to the loot bags. I'm new to loot bags. We didn't have them as kids and he has never been to a party before. So, I have ordered trainer chopsticks with animals on top (2.75 each) and was thinking of giving each bag a Squish 'em (it's apple sauce in an easy squeeze container) and then I don't know. I was hoping to keep each one below 5 bucks. I want to do the trainer chopsticks b/c of the party theme and my son will be learning chopsticks at the same time as other cutlery and besides I think it's fun. So, anywho, my question is any other ideas of what would be appropriate to put in a look bag for toddlers (most will be one, just over or just below)

Resolved Question: Dealing with a stubborn toddler?

We have a 18-month old girl, and while she's lively, usually glad, and fun -- she's also difficult. She doesn't thrown that many temper tantrums (the nice that carry on -- she fusses, no doubt), but she doesn't respond to us asking / telling her to do something if it contradicts her idea of what she should be doing. For instance -- we tell her to stay out of the kitchen. I must tell her 45 times, if not more, over the course of a day. It doesn't matter, though -- she wanders in there as if there's nothing wrong with it. We tell her to stay seated while eating, and she will for a moment, then she'll start running around with food in hand -- it's relentless. She's also seems defiant sometimes, almost like she's trying to play battle of wills with me about certain things. She'll *almost* do something that we don't approve of while looking right into my eyes, seemingly to look how I'll react. How do you deal with this, and more importantly -- how do you reach through to a child like this so that we can live in harmony here? From what I'm seeing, I think we need to receive her to want to follow the rules, not fear discipline / disappointment of parents because she doesn't seem to care about our opinions regarding certain things. If you have some insight here -- that would be appreciated. We tell her to stay out of the kitchen because it's safer (very tiny kitchen, she got hurt in there a lot before we disallowed it, she throws away toys, phones, dishes, etc). We have several baby gates, but maybe I'm naive in thinking that it would be great if she respected these boundaries on her possess accord. Our other daughter wasn't anything like our youngest at her age. I didn't know this was so normal. My wife, who has been around younger kids way more than I have, says she doesn't know if this is normal, either. That's a relief, then -- I was hoping that she wasn't a sociopath in training. Thank you for every the answers so far.

Resolved Question: What bad parenting have you seen that drives you NUTS!?

Ok, I'm not saying I'm perfect at every...but I know I'm not the only one who look's bad parenting and has to bite their tongue. What are some things that you've seen parent's do that you can't stand? This is meant to be fun venting...I'm really curious to read every your answers! I've seen my possess family members doing the following... Babies/toddlers drinking soda! Parent's threatening timeouts, but never once following through. Toddlers watching tv every day/watching pg 13 movies in the basement by themselves! Letting a 3 year old decide that candy was for dinner just so they would cease crying. Saw a lady in the grocery store yelling at her baby to "close up and cease acting a fool" oh yeah, my sister in law let her two year old run around at a restaurant about a month ago, he ended up pulling the flame alarm! to calm him down, she left every of us at the table so she could put him in front of the dvd player in the van.

Resolved Question: Do you encourage your children to hit back?

Been to a toddler group today with my 3 yr old, she had lots of fun but close snack time she told her big sister she didnt like a girl who was sat next to her, I told my 3 yr old daughter this was not a nice thing to say and that she shouldnt say that as it makes people unhappy, whilst I was telling her this the other girls mum leaned to her daughter and said if she touches you, you hit her. My daughter hadnt hit her or touched her and I just thought it was a really horrible thing to encourage in kids so young. Surely if you had a problem with another child you would look their parents wouldnt you, especially when the kids involved are only 3 yr olds

Resolved Question: My father slapped me and denies it...any advice?

This every started yesterday. My boyfriend and I went to church with my mom, dad, and two brothers. I have panic disorder and claustrophobia. So when I receive into social situations(such as church) or out in public I usually have panic attacks. It was halfway into the sermon when I started to receive panicky. My dad was sitting in the row in front of my mom, brothers, and my boyfriend and I. My boyfriend tries to help calm me by hugging me and rubbing my back. Then he gives me a slight peck on the lips. The next thing I feel is my face going completely numb and my lip throbbing. I open my eyes to find my dad looking furious and shaking his fist at my boyfriend. I look around and more than 12 people plus the pastor were staring. I look over at my mom and shes sitting there with her head in her hands. Needless to say my boyfriend and I were out of the church very quickly. By that time I was sobbing. We walked back to where the car is parked and stand there. He apologizes to me saying it was every his fault he never should have kissed me and he would apologize to my dad. I was completely filled with rage and told him that that was a load of bull and there is no reason he should apologize to that SOB because what he did was worse than a peck on the lips at church. Then my dad comes out to the car and says, "First of every I'm very sorry about doing that but do you honestly think it's right to kiss in church?!" I then said, "Is it right to bitchslap your daughter in church?!" I said it noisy and my dad hates making a scene so he tried to receive us to talk in the car but I refused to receive in. We went back up to the church and my boyfriend went in to receive my mom. We every talked for a few minuets then she told me to stay where I was while she talked to my dad. I didn't want to even look him and I told her that. So instead I grabbed my boyfriend and we ran into some wooded area by the church. He tried to calm me down and called his dad to let him know what happened. His dad was upset and willing to pick us up but I told him not to do that yet. We stood out in the icy for about 20 mins while my mom drove around to look if she could find us. I guess by this time my dad had gone home with my aunt. My boyfriend convinced me to arrive out and we went to where my mom had parked. When we got in she started to lecture and talk and say how she couldn't believe my dad did that. Theres a lot more to this story but I'm trying to be brief....after that my dad kept trying to apologize but will not admit he slapped me to keep his life! He says he tapped me and my definition of a slap must differ from his. I think that a slap is a pretty universal term. I can't bring myself to forgive him because this isn't the first time this has happened. He used to spank or beat me when I was a toddler for doing things normal kids do at that age. He punched me before in the back when I was 12 because my brother was making fun of me and I told him to cease it. Then not too long ago my boyfriend was getting ready to leave my home, I was sitting on the floor and my dad yanked me up by my hair. Now I let my dad have it good today before I left the home and told him about every the things he's done to me and that's why I can't forgive him. When I got back home my mom said he swears to god that he doesn't remember pulling my hair. My home life is total hell at the moment. My boyfriends parents are willing to take me in but I'm 17 and my parents could receive them in trouble. Bottom line I'm hurt I'm confused and I just want to receive the hell out of here without getting people in trouble. What am I supposed to do?!?! Oh and I would appreciate it if people didn't leave stupid answers. kthanx

Resolved Question: Toddler Easter Gifts?

Voting Question: Toddler losing his mind?

My son will sometimes toss the hugest fit, and it's not like a normal tantrum. We're talking, screaming, clawing, and being insane. He has a blank stare on his face and is so emotional that he's usually screaming with a dry scream that sounds like it must hurt his throat, and he is often flailing around. He'll act very disorganized and irrational- asking for something adamantly (by reaching and screaming and sometimes saying the word), then throwing it on the floor when he gets it, then immediately freaking out and reaching for it again. It takes a long time before he will calm down and often it takes for him to fall asleep and then after his nap he's back to his usual cheerful and fun self. In his normal manner he will toss a normal toddler tantrum or fit, but on these other occasions is very different and it always scares me cause it seems like he's going crazy. My husband got damage to his brain almost 7 years ago so I'm starting to wonder if brain damage is inheritable even though he didn't receive it from a disease or anything, more like an accident.

Open Question: i need ideas for games to play with toddlers?

I'm working part time teaching ESL to little kids. most of then are around 2.5 yrs old and 4-5 years old. i don't have much experience with kids and i'm finding it REALLY stressful. I'm doing my best to keep their interest. i like to try to have games between tasks and in the beginning of the lesson so it's fun for them.. but i don't know that many. anyone know simple games that don't need much props? at the moment with the todlers i'm doing things like simon says, singing and miming itsy bitsy spider, skeleton dance, hokey pokey etc.. but i need more. and also for the older kids... i use pictionary, hangman, but if anyone knows other fun games i can incorporate in my lessons that would be great. i'm teaching drama, speech, interview skills and alphabet if that helps. going outside is not an option. it's in the middle of one of the most hectic parts of the city. not clean. not safe and i'm not allowed anyways. but that sleeping animals tune is exactly what i was looking for! thanks!

Voting Question: What would have happened if the Bulger murderers had applied for a job working with children?

In the UK any application to work with kids - playgroup worker, teaching assistant, teacher etc, requires an Enhanced Disclosure CRB check to reveal any prior convictions which could mean that a person poses a risk to kids. Now lets take the vermin formerly known as "Jon Venables" and "Robert Thomson". The ones who abducted a toddler, tortured him, beat him to death with an iron bar and left his body on a Railway Track so that a train could clip it in half. They had gone out that day with the express intention of abducting a tiny child and pushing them in front of a car to cause an accident. They prowled the shopping centre and sadly selected 2 year old James Bulger as their victim: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_James_Bulger So after 8 palty years in a "special school" - with daytrips and lots of fun and luxuries, they are set free with untrue identities. One has now gone bck to prison accused of sex crimes/violent assault/drug offences (no surprise there) but "Thomson" is stil prowling our streets. He could be living next door to you or me. What would happen if they were to apply for a job working with kids? Would their crime arrive up on a CRB check? Or given that they have been awarded new identities" would it simply fail to disclose that they had savagely and brutally murdered a tiny child in 1993? If the CRB check did reveal this it would risk disclosing their new identities. And their rights are, of course, paramount in this. So just how safe are our kids? How safe is my three year old son when I send him to nursery? Any Government lackeys want to put my mind at relax? hoarseman - maybe I don't just want to take it lying down like so many other spineless people in this country, maybe I just want to draw people's attention to the case. Ever thought of that? I was 20 in 1993 (I'm an older mom) but remember the case well and am more sickened by it today than I was then. But my husband was 10 in 1993 and funnily enough, despite a pretty rough childhood, he never got the urge to murder a toddler. silly that, eh? I guess the "10 year olds don't know right from wrong" brigade are talking out of their backsides. Again.

Resolved Question: When, where and how to do timeouts for a toddler?

Our daughter is 17-months-old. We have occasionally put her in time outs in her room for repeatedly doing something she knows she is not supposed to do (after being warned a few times). However, now that she is getting older, we're trying to find a good consistent way of doing it. We don't want to put her in her room or her pack-n-play, because we don't want her to associate those areas negatively (and her room has so many fun things, it's not really a punishment). She's not really of an age that we can keep her in a seat without holding her, which she struggles about when she is upset. Our condo is very tiny, so we don't have a lot of options. In general, she is well-behaved and we can receive her to say "Sorry" and give a kiss if she did something that hurt someone and I can usually receive her to pay attention to a short explanation, even if she doesn't fully understand. However, every once in a while she gets into older toddler mode and repeatedly screams at the top of her lungs (while flashing a defiant look at Daddy) of throws things like her cup over and over again when she knows to put it on the table. We'd like to tutor her consequences, so she knows that there will be more than nagging if she disobeys. However, I'm not sure the best time, place and method to do it while she is still so young. I think the second response is making a lot of assumptions. She isn't told "no" a ton and gets an incredible amount of affection from both of us. There are just a few specific behaviors we are trying to work on and I'm looking for the best way to address them. I've taken 7 units of early childhood education and have three younger siblings I had to help lift, but I just want to know what works for other parents or if it is too early to try with timeouts.
